I recently had the pleasure of trying out the Transformers Botbots Series 3 and I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. These tiny, roughly-1-inch tall PVC-plastic toys convert from a robot into some other object in a few short, simple steps. The new series can be easily distinguished from the previous two sets by having an orange bubble. The person who found them, D3VC0N from the TFW2005 message boards, identified them all for us, writing their names and what they turn into (which is much easier to identify them as).
I love the level of customization and collectability that BotBots offer. Each character belongs to a themed team depending on the "store" their alternate mode is found in, though the individual members of the team are spread out among a lot of packages. The three main price points in the line, found in every Series, are: Blind Bag Mystery Figures with a single Bot inside, 5-Packs with two Bots from the pack's theme team, two Bots from two other teams, and an additional blind-packed (but not random) Bot, and 8-Packs with two Bots from the pack's theme team, five Bots from five other teams, and an additional blind-packed (but not random) Bot.
I also appreciate that there are several special price points introduced in later Series such as Arcade Renegades Surprise packs with twelve Bots from the pack's theme team, and four from other teams, and Surprise Unboxing packs with ten individual capsules inside, containing five Bots, one "Winner's Circle" gold Bot, and four stickers. These redundant Bots are meant to encourage trading among the kids.
In conclusion, I highly recommend the Transformers Botbots Series 3 to any collector or fan of the Transformers franchise. The level of customization and collectability offered by this toy line is truly impressive, and the tiny size and simple conversion process make them perfect for kids and adults alike. With the release of the new series, it's the perfect time to start building your collection of these fun and unique toys.
